World Environment Day

June 5-11 is Environment Week in Canada

NEW BRUNSWICK, June 5, 2023 – New Brunswickers are encouraged to support Environment Week in Canada by participating in a community or beach clean-up, organizing a tree-planting or making an extra effort to reduce and recycle household waste. Recycle NB also reminds New Brunswickers to recycle designated materials, including paint, oil and glycol, tires and electronics.

Environment Week in Canada begins on June 5, which is World Environment Day. The theme this year is focused on promoting global solutions to combat plastic pollution. World Environment Day, which has been celebrated globally since 1974, aims to engage governments, businesses and citizens in an effort to address environmental issues of concern.

Clean Air Day and World Oceans Day also take place during Environment Week, on June 7 and 8 respectively. Clean Air Day promotes the importance of good air quality to our health and environment, and World Oceans Day raises awareness about protecting and restoring our oceans.

Recycle NB is a provincial organization whose mission is to manage waste reduction programs for designated materials and provide environmental stewardship for New Brunswick. For more information about our programs, please visit www.recyclenb.com.
