May 30-June 5, 2021 is Environment Week

NEW BRUNSWICK, May 31, 2021 – New Brunswickers are encouraged to support Environment Week by making an extra effort to cut back on household waste or participate in an activity that will help improve the province’s ecosystems.

Environment Week takes place from May 30-June 5, 2021 and includes Clean Air Day on June 2, 2021 and World Environment Day on June 5, 2021. The theme of World Environment Day this year is Ecosystem Restoration, which encourages citizens to heal some of our damaged ecosystems.

“There are a variety of ways people can help restore our ecosystems,” said Frank LeBlanc, CEO of Recycle NB. “They can cut back on household waste, participate in a community clean-up or reduce the use of household chemicals. We also encourage New Brunswickers to recycle our designated materials, including paint, oil and glycol, tires and electronics.”

World Environment Day, which has been celebrated globally since 1974, aims to engage governments, businesses and citizens in an effort to address environmental issues of concern. World Environment Day is also described as a platform for inspiring global change. Read about how Recycle NB strives to inspire global change on our blog page.
