Recycle NB CEO
“Recycle NB’s Board of Directors are pleased to welcome Mr. Patrick McCarthy to serve as the organization’s Chief Executive Officer”, said Murray Driscoll, Chairman of Recycle NB. “We believe he comes to the Board with the vision, skill set, and experience needed to successfully grow Recycle NB into a world-class recycling organization.”
Mr. McCarthy is a graduate of UNB’s Forestry program and is a long time member of the Registered Professional Foresters Association of New Brunswick. Having spent nearly 25 years in the forest industry, Patrick has extensive experience dealing with environmental issues. He held positions of progressive responsibility in forest management at Bowater Inc. which was one of the largest users of post consumer recycled content in North America. While at Bowater he was primarily responsible for the stewardship of crown lands and the development of its strategic management plan. He successfully implemented an ISO 14001 Environmental Management System which resulted in a reduced environmental impact from forestry operations and a reduction of waste generated. He was also involved in advising the organization on environmental policy and the development of operational procedures.
Recently Mr. McCarthy served as the Executive Director of the Maritime College of Forestry Technology since 2004 during which time his efforts were focused on increasing environmental awareness and the continued education of environmental and forestry professionals.
He has been involved with numerous Boards and multi-stakeholder groups including the New Brunswick Forest Products Association, Canadian Woodlands Forum, Atlantic Teachers Tour, Restigouche Heritage River Committee and Forest Protection Ltd.
He presently lives in Fredericton with his wife Lucie and their two sons Kevin and Pascal.
